  	Among those receiving degrees at the Spring convocation of Acadia University on Tuesday was a 39-year old father of seven children. He is Ernest Mabey, a resident of Truro who received the degree of Bachelor of Education. A former radio broadcaster and newspaper reporter for the "Truro Daily News, " he returned to university studies following the receiving of a BA in 1939, two years service in Canada in the army during the Second World War, about 12 years of radio work and two years of reporting. When asked why he took up teaching, Mabey said: "I guess I just never was happy in radio. Newspaper work was better but teaching seemed to offer the best chance for personal fulfillment. But it was tough at first - being away from studies, for so long and being so much older than the rest of the class. I wondered sometimes whether it wasn't too late. But Dr. Marshall, our dean said that everything was grist for the mill in teaching if it was used properly. So here we are, I owe a great deal to my family and friends for encouragement and to the professors for advice and help." Mabey's wife, the former Marion Durkee of South Ohio, and two oldest children Mary 11, and William 10 were on hand at the convocation, while the other five children, ranging from 11 months to seven years waited at home to greet their dad. His mother, Mrs. Philip Greco, talked with him by long distance from her home in Roxbury, Massachusetts
