- Mrs. Julia E. Welch died at the home of her mother on Allegan Street Sunday afternoon, after a lingering illness of nearly two years. She moved to this village from Bloomingdale about 8 months ago. Her maiden name was Julia E. Mabie, being born June 6, 1863 in Bushnell Township.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. L. P. Mabie, five brothers, Joel of Montcalm Co., Chester of Mc Brides, D. J. of Elk Rapids, Lora and Truman D. of this place, three sister, Mrs. Harriet Flanagan of Canada, Mrs. Minerva Easton of Central Lake, and Mrs. Mary Ann Jason of Shepherd. Mrs Welsh was a bright woman and was well beloved by all who know her.
The funeral was held from the house at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, and internment was made in Mountain Home Cemetery.

- Truman D. Maybee died at his home in the village yesterday afternoon after a long illness from consumption. Truman D. Maybee was born in Montcalm County, Michigan and was 43 years, and 7 months old at the time of his death. He had lived here many years and was employed in the mills of the Bardeen Paper Company. Mr. Maybe professed faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior while on his sick bed and he was baptised by the Rev. H.D. Skinner some days ago. A daughter and an aged mother survive him. The funeral will be held from the house Friday afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. Skinner
