- Oliver E Mabie passed away March 6, 2003 at age 82. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Gwendolyn; son Dana (Rosemary) Mabie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Seymour (Jeanne) Nelson, Russell (Nancy) Hamman, Eleanor Haggerty; nephew Donald (Tracy) Nelson; great nephew Graham Nelson; and many cousins, and special cousins, Sandra and Don Caldiera.
Oliver formerly worked as a representative of Swift & Co and George A Hormell Co, the Office of Civil Defense and retired from NYS Department of Labor as a Local Veterans Employment Representative. Oliver was the former Commander or President of the Major Joseph E Hurley Post #1183, Past Commanders Club, Society of the First Infantry Division (Big Red One), Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans Post #208, Veterans of Foreign War Eddie Meath Post #774, The United Veterans Organization, Amvets Post #1097, The Memorial & Executive Council, Deputy Marshal of the Memorial Day Parade, Monroe County Selective Service Board, Vice Commander Monroe County American Legion, a volunteer Batavia, Bath & Canandaigua Veterans Hospital. Oliver also served as Warden of the Church of the Epiphany, and was head usher with the Christ Episcopal Church and was secretary to the Episcopal Bishops Men.
Funeral service will be held in the Christ Episcopal Church , Rochester, on Monday. Private interment.
