- Peter Jeffery Lenihan, 67, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, of esophageal cancer, surrounded by family.
He was born Jan. 12, 1950, in Schenectady, New York, the son of Louise Isabella (Finn) and William S. Lenihan Sr.
He graduated in 1968 from Linton High School in Schenectady, and attended Iowa State University in Ames.
Mr. Lenihan married Bonnie McMahon Aug. 30, 1986, in Poultney.
He was a truck driver for many years, retiring due to health issues.
He enjoyed woodworking, history and helping others in AA. He was also an avid music lover and guitarist.
Survivors include his wife and their son, Justin Lenihan, both of Poultney; his daughter, Jennifer Allocca, from a previous marriage, of New Boston, New Hampshire, and her two children; his siblings, Patricia Ayres, of Shortsville, New York, W. Scott Lenihan Jr., of Hampton, New York, James Lenihan, of Bristol, and Maryjane Conti, of Charlotte, North Carolina; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per his request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of his life reception will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Lake St. Catherine State Park.
