Milas Bemjamin Cook

M, #47, b. 14 December 1951, d. 2 March 2010
Anecdote His mother writes, 'Milas is no stranger to hard times as during his growing up time his father was disabled a good part of the time. He was in and out of hospitals with back surgeries, none of which corrected the problem. I remember when both boys had the Asian flu. It was really a rough time as there was nothing to be done except take aspirin. He had osteomalitis when he was only eleven months old. He was in a hospital in Seattle for 3 months. Doctors were at the point of removing his leg, when they decided to try a new drug (Terramycin). Praise God it stopped the fever and healed him. I remember when he wanted to play the trumpet in school. He didn't have the money to pay for it and he wanted to play so badly that I figured there had to be a way. They were buying fir cones for $1 a gunny sack full, so we picked cones (robbed some squirrel stashes) and finally tot enough to get his instrument. He has always liked music.1
