Introduction

The following records have been assembled from a variety of published sources, some of which provide more information than others. Since most of these sources relied on handwritten muster rolls and pay records, the spelling of names was subject to transcription errors by the individuals who examined the actual records. I have not attempted to verify these transcriptions from the original records. Where inconsistent spellings were found, the alternate spellings are included in each record. In most cases, these alternate spellings are simply spelling variations of the Mabie (or Mabee, Maybee, Mabey) surname. In a few cases, the spelling variations cast doubt on the true surname of the individual; however, I have chosen to include these records in this compilation.

PLEASE NOTE: All names are spelled as found in the records. Therefore, a global search of this file by name will not necessarily locate the appropriate records.

CONFEDERATE:

Confederate records are far more difficult to accurately assess. The names of many members of the Southern Mabe and Mabry families were sometimes transcribed as Mabey or Maby. I have attempted to eliminate as many of those as possible. I have definitely verified the identity of the first two names listed below, E. M. Mabie (Edward) and L. D. Maybee (Liendolphus) from other source material.

Missouri:

E. M. Mabie

10th Missouri Infantry, B Company, Private (Edward M. Mabie)
