Nothing gave him greater pleasure than being able to see and occasionally assist others in completing their many and varied projects. Hugh's contributions to society and the community are many but one of his proudest achievements was his work with Operation Eyesight Universal. It is because his untiring efforts on their behalf that many people in poorer countries can see well today. Although not well known, Hugh was also an accomplished musician and prior to moving to Canada had been a percussionist with a symphony ocharstra and a drummer with one of the leaders of what was to become a well known big band of his era.
