Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Steinke Funeral Home, K.V. Chapel, Demotte-Wheatfield, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. David Sterk of First Reformed Church will officiate. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery. Miss Mabie was a 1989 graduate of Kankakee High School and a freshman at Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, Ill. While in high school and college, she held several class offices and was a star basketball player.3 |

The year after graduation he spent at home in helping to close out his father's business, and in June 1899, removed to Mabie, W. Va., engaged in business with the McClure-Mabie Lumber Co. He died of blood poisoning, caused by hemorrhage following a serious affection of the throat, at Elkins, W. Va., on October 11, 1900, in his 27th year.7 |

Beck, 1331 Kinzie Street, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, with burial in Rice cemetery. The Rev. C.A. Sickafoose of the Castle United Brethren church will officiate. Mrs. Mabie died Saturday, of general paralysis at the state hospital at Logansport, where she had been a patient 14 years. She was the daughter of Parmenus and Melvina Williams, and was born in Niles Mich. On March 2, 1895. Her marriage to William Mabie took place in St. Joseph, Mich, on July 25, 1908, and soon afterward they located in Elkhart, where she remained until stricken with her long illness. Surviving are her husband, who lived in South Bend; a stepson, Charles Mabie of Elkhart; a step daughter, Mrs. William Messenger of Jackson, Mich., and five sisters - Mrs. John Beck, Mrs. Floyd Manwarren, Mrs. L.C. Pollard, and Mrs Madaline B. Williams, all of Elkhart; and the Mrs John Wolford of Niles.7 |

His first wife, Hazel, and three children were killed in an automobile accident April 28,1929. He then married Edna M. Stowe, Oct 24, 1931, in Elkhart. She survives with one daughter, Mrs Dewain (Ruby) Filley, Dowagiac; a stepson, Robert B. Stowe, Elkhart; six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Anna Messenger, Jackson, Mich. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home where services will be 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Thomas C. Kuhn, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery. Mr. Mabie retired Jan 8, 1954, from the New York Central Railroad where he was employed as a freight conductor for 37 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Legion of the Moose, and the Fellowship of the Moose. The Moose Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.9 |

She is survived by her loving twin sister Barbara Mabee Abel, and husband Jim, her brother Gary Mabee, wife Ylwa of Ellensburg, WA, nephew Dale Tucker, Jupiter, FL and Mary Sue Benz, GA. Beverly was born with Cerebral Palsy and overcame many challenges in her life with her motto - 'When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.' She worked with handicapped children at P. B. Crippled Children's clinic for several years. Always an inspiration to anyone she came in contact with, she never met a stranger and loved meeting new people. She was a member of United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches. A Memorial Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, November 22, 2019 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel at the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches, 900 Brandywine Way, West Palm Beach, Florida.2 |

P. Mabee, one of the pioneers of the district. Mr. Mabee, who was in his 84th year, was born in Middlesex, near Guysboro, and resided there until he grew to manhood, when he purchased the homestead on which he had lived continuously over 56 years and on which he died. He was widely known in the community and highly respected, possessing many friends. His wife predeceased him thirteen years. The children who survive him are: Mrs.[Elizabeth] James McBride of Tillsonburg; Mrs. [Margaret]Lewis Woolley and Mrs.[Minerva] Geo. Corlas of Avon; Mrs. [Lillie] Chas. Atkinson of Dereham near Tillsonburg; James of Guysboro; Aquilla and William of Langton; Thomas of Straffordville; and Clarence, who lives on the homestead. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon of last week and was attended by many relatives and friends. Interment was made at the Guysboro cemetery.9 |
