The Third Census of the United States took place in 1810. The official start day for the 1810 census was 6 August 1810. All questions asked were supposed to refer to that date. All responses were to reflect the individual's status as of 6 August 1810, even if the status had changed between 6 August and the day of enumeration (i.e. children born after 6 August should not be listed, and people who died after 6 August should be included in the count). It is not known if every census taker adhered to this policy.
The enumeration was to be completed within nine months, but the due date was extended by law to ten months. In 1810, there were a total of seventeen states in the Union plus the District of Columbia. In addition, six US territories were also enumerated: Georgia territory, Mississippi territory, Louisiana territory, Orleans, Michigan territory, and Illinois territory.
All of the 1810 Census Records for the District of Columbia, Georgia, Mississippi, New Jersey, and Ohio were lost or destroyed over the years. Most of Tennessee's original forms were also lost, other than those for Grainger and Rutherford counties.

NEW JERSEY: |
| | |
The 1810 Census for New Jersey was destroyed in a fire. However, |
there were several Mabie families known to be living in New Jersey at that |
time. The following people were certainly living in New Jersey by 1810: |
| | |
| | |
Bergen County: |
Mabie, Mindert | Saddle River Township |
Maybee, John | Pompton Township |
| | |
| | |
Sussex County: |
| | |
Mabee, John | Wantage Township |
| | |
| | |
OHIO: |
| | |
The 1810 Census Records for most counties of Ohio have been lost, but there |
is reason to believe that there was at least one Mabee family living in Ohio by that time. |
The family of Bartholomew Mabee (4790) was probably living in Ohio as early as 1803. |
This statement is based on the 1850 census data that shows his son, William (born about 1803), |
was "born in Ohio." Bartholomew died before the 1820 Census, but his widow Mary |
continued to appear in the Ohio census through 1850. |
