On August 23, 1960 he married Loretta Jamison at Eureka, KS. She survives. Other survivors include a son Tony (Misty) Mabie, Fort Worth, TX; four daughters, Sharyl Mabie, Medicine Lodge, KS; Diana Mabie, Pratt, KS; Lisa (Tim) Gray, Arkansas City, KS; Regina (Virgil) Shields, Derby, KS; a sister Wilma Joyner, Florida; 8 Grandchildren, Krista, Justin, Cory, Cortney, Tyler, Brandie, Heaven and Preston, and 3 Great Grandchildren, Colton, Cali, and Kaylee. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Warren, Homer, and Junior Mabie. Visitation will be from 1:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt, KS 67124. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at the mortuary with John Hamm officiating. Burial will be at Isabel Cemetery, with military honors provided by the US Navy Honor Guard.7

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at the mortuary with John Hamm officiating. Burial will be at Isabel Cemetery, with military honors provided by the US Navy Honor Guard.7

Mr. Mabie was graduated from the high school at Nemaha, Iowa, in 1917, and later attended the Hamilton School of Commerce at Mason City, Iowa, for a time. He is manager of the Beaver City Cooperative Creamery at this time and takes an active interest in community affairs.
Mr. Mabie is a member of the Beaver City Community Club and the Beaver City Rotary Club, is affiliated with the First Methodist Church, and is a Mason and Odd Fellow. His sports are golfing and tennis, while his hobby is reading. During the World War he served as a private in the United States Army overseas for 19 months, and is now a member of the American Legion.
His marriage to Hazel Gladys Hotchkiss was solemnized at Spirit Lake, December 25, 1924, she was born at Eagle Grove, Iowa, December 15, 1903. She is the daughter of Willis R. and Ada (Gray) Hotchkiss. Their two children are: Howard Ted, born April 28, 1926; and Eleanor Jean, born January 25, 1928. Residence: Beaver City.4

Funeral services were held at Roper and Sons chapel, Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Clarence Campbell officiant. Burial was in Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery.10

A son preceded him in death. He was a retired masonry worker.9

The funeral will be held at the home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with burial in the Prairie Street Cemetery. The body is to be returned to the home of Dale White chapel, 129 South Second street, late this afternoon. Mr. Mabie, the son of James and Emily (Rogers) Mabie, was born Feb 10, 1856, in Kosciusko county. His marriage to Lillian Clark took place in Warsaw in 1906. She survives, with the following children, all residents of Elkhart: Arthur, Charles, and Edward Mabie and the Mesdames Pearl Barker, Hazel Hawkins, Rosetta Morrison, Gladys Petitt, and Dora Rowan. There are 28 grandchildren, a grandchild and a step-daughter, Mrs. Bertha Atchison of Pierceton, Ind. Mr. Mabie was a member of the Apostolic Faith church.6

(Mabie) Barker, 76, of 23863 County Route 45, died at 7 p.m. Friday at home. She had been in ill health for several years. She was born June 3, 1908, in Warsaw, as Pearl B. Mabie, she married Paul F. Barker on March 28, 1926, in Edwardsburg. He died Oct 6, 1976. Surviving are one daughter, Patrica, Auburn, Pa; one son, Howard R. Herald Sr., Elkhart; four sisters, Bertha Atchison, of Warsaw, Hazel Hawkins and Rosetta Morrison, both of Elkhart, and Dora LaGrass, Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Two sisters and three brothers are deceased. Friends May call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. today at the White Funeral Home, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. E.G. Goin, Kingdom Life Fellowship Church will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Elkhart County Cancer Society or Elkhart Hospice Inc.6

Hawkins, 85, 0f 2601 Oakland Ave., died at 5:23 a.m. Tuesday in Rosewood Terrace, where she was a patient for three weeks. She was born Dec 7, 1909, in Warsaw. She married Henry J. Hawkins on Aug 6, 1926, and became a homemaker. He died April 1, 1977, in Elkhart. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Luella P.) Reiff and Mrs. Roy (Sue) Ferguson, and two sons, Arthur "Skip" Hawkins and Robert Hawkins, all of Elkhart, 17 Grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Rosey) Morrison and Mrs. Charles (Dora) LeGras of Kendallville. A son Richard, died in 1969, and seven brothers and sisters are deceased. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, where the funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Clare Schumn of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the United Cancer Services of Elkhart.9
