oObit*28 June 1938  On 28 June 1938 at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York, the obituary of Jacob Burnett read: Jacob Burnett, 78, a retired farmer and resident of Dutchess county the greater part of his life, died at Vassar Brothers' hospital at noon yesterday after a long illness.
He was born in the town of Stanford, Nov 27, 1859, the son of the late Mr and Mrs Alfred Burnett. He came to Poughkeepsie from Rhinebeck five months ago to live with his daughter, Mrs Claude Adams, 141 North Hamilton street.
His wife, the former Emily L Horton, died 19 years ago. In addition to Mrs Adams, he is survived by two other daughters, Mrs Albert Butler, of Stanfordsville, and Mrs Harry Traver, of Rhinebeck; three sons, Arthur, of Pleasant Plains; Jacob Jr, of Red Hook, and John, of Rhinebeck.
The funeral will be conducted at 141 North Hamilton street tomorrow afternoon with the Rev Howard E Thompson, pastor of the Washington Street M.E. church officiating.
Burial will be in the Rhinebeck cemetery.2
