oObit* | 20 August 2010 | On 20 August 2010 at Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, the obituary of John Andrew Mabie read: Surrounded by his family, Jack Mabie of Dumfries, NB passed away at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the age of 73. Jack was born in Dumfries, to the late Ervil and Sybilla (Carlin) Mabie and was affiliated with the Anglican Church. Jack and his wife Arleigh have been well known as the Owner/Operators of the Moonlight Motel and Restaurant in Dumfries for over 34 years. Jack had a love for horses and spent much of his free time with his horses. He was a member of the Atlantic Canadian and American Apaloosa Club. Jack is also remembered for his community service and kindness to seniors volunteering for a number of years with the Meals on Wheels and Wheels to Meals programs. He is survived by his wife Arleigh (Dickison); sons Peter Mabie (Rose), Dana Mabie (Susan) all of Dumfries, Mark Mabie (Jill) of Prince William; daughter Heather Bradley (Harold) of Saint John; chosen daughter Ashley (Corey Johnson) of Dumfries; sisters Rita Mills (Bob) of Fredericton, Eleanor Moorcroft (Aword) of Pokiok, Paddy Mabie of Nackawic; sister-in-law Elaine Mabie of Dumfries; 13 grandchildren Evan, Jacob, Brett, Ally, Colby, Alex, Jaden, Halanna, Halley, Hudson, Houston, Hadashah, and Harmonie; six step grandchildren Erica, Brandon, Christopher, Justin, Amber and Tanner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by a brother Paul in 2002.Visitation is at St. Clement's Anglican Church in Dumfries, NB on Friday, August 20, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, with the Funeral service being held at the Church on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kevin Borthwick officiating. Interment will be at the Barony Cemetery.3 |

Born on March 20, 1935 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Charles and Amber (Collings) Brown. He was a member of the Smokey Mokes, Fredericton Society of Artists, Red Sweater Choir, I Am Ministry, The Order of Saint Luke, St. Margarets Healing Services and also a former Scout Master. In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his sons Tony Brown (Doris) and David Brown (Janice) all of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Timothy (Jacinda), Kristen, Alexander and Alyssa Brown; great grandchildren, Braydyn, Jackson and Dalice Brown; sister, Delia Hachey of Stanley, NB; sister-in-law, Edith Mabie of Fredericton, NB; brother-in-law, Carl Mabie (Donna) of New York State. Besides his parents, he was pre- deceased by his niece, Iris Young; mother-in-law, Violet Mabie; father-in-law, Albert Mabie; brothers-in-law, Donald Mabie, Mullen Young and Louis Hachey. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Nashwaaksis United Church on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Alex and Tim Brown, Matthew Dextraze, Graham and Colin Smith and John Patterson; Honourary Pallbearers are Jim Steen, Ian MacDonald, Walter Brown, Glen Stairs, Walter Young, Wendall Collicot, Doug Ashfield, George Dayton and Dow Price. Reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in Fredericton Rural Cemetery. Fred's family would like to offer special thanks to Dow Price, Dot Steen, Mary Jane and Ian MacDonald, Edith Mabie, Nancy Robinson, Louie and Tina MacDonald; the Palliative Care Unit at the DECRH, Medical Staff of both Saint John and Fredericton Hospitals, Dr. Gordon MacDonald and Extra Mural.3 |
