Anecdote* | After Joshua died Mary and her six children moved to the Yamachiche refugee camp near Trois Rivers, Quebec for the balance of the war. While in camp, she met Christopher Pearson, the rations officer, a widower with two girls, and she married for the third time. With the signing of the peace treaty in Paris, provision was made for reparations, Christopher Pearson and his wife and new family were among the five hundred settlers who sailed from St. Lawrence around the Gaspe Peninsula, Paspebiac Beach, on the Bay of Chaleur in June of 1783. Lots were drawn and land distributed to these transplanted Americans. Mary or Grandma Pearson as she was later know, lived to the age of 103.3 | |
