Mabie on 22 October 1915 at Carmel, Putnam County, New York; Again we have the sad duty of recording the passing away of another of Patterson's aged residents in the death of Mrs. Anna Dayton, early Saturday morning, Oct 16, 1915, after a .long and (painful) illness. Although 81 years of age, she had until her fatal illness shown remarkable vigor and health, which had been hers during most of her long life, spent in this village.
Bereaved of her husband many years ago and also a son in the bloom of early manhood, her independence of spirit and firmness of character sustained her through many difficulties, and enabled her to be a kind and helpful friend and neighbor to any who needed such, assistance. She was for many years a member of the Presbyterian church, but in the absence of the pastor, funeral services were conducted at her late residence on Tuesday afternoon, by Rev. W, G. Meldrum.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Steinbeck, and two sisters, Miss Louise Mabie and Mrs. Caroline Germond. who have the sympathy of many friends in their sorrow.7

oObit7 March 1919  On 7 March 1919 at Carmel, Putnam County, New York, the obituary of Louise J. Mabie read: The death of .Miss Louise Mabie was peaceful and painless on Tuesday evening after a gradual failing of strength during many weeks. Up to that time, in spite of 89 years of life, she enjoyed the same good health she had all her life and took the same keen interest in life and the world's affairs. Funeral services were held on Friday at the home of her sister, where she passed away, and were attended by many neighbors and friends. She leaves one sister, Mrs. C. M. Germond, to mourn the loss of her gentle presence and sweet Christian character.
Funeral services were held at her late home this afternoon at two o'clock.9 
Burial*1920 She was buried in 1920 at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Patterson, Putnam County, New York.10

Although 81 years of age, she had until her fatal illness shown remarkable vigor and health, which had been hers during most of her long life, spent in this village.
Bereaved of her husband many years ago and also a son in the bloom of early manhood, her independence of spirit and firmness of character sustained her through many difficulties, and enabled her to be a kind and helpful friend and neighbor to any who needed such, assistance. She was for many years a member of the Presbyterian church, but in the absence of the pastor, funeral services were conducted at her late residence on Tuesday afternoon, by Rev. W, G. Meldrum.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Steinbeck, and two sisters, Miss Louise Mabie and Mrs. Caroline Germond. who have the sympathy of many friends in their sorrow.7

Germond, to mourn the loss of her gentle presence and sweet Christian character.
Funeral services were held at her late home this afternoon at two o'clock.8

Anecdote In the records of nearly all the Dutch marriages, the place from which the family came is mentioned. Caspar subsequently adopted, as the baptismal entries of his children show, the surname Mabie. they resided in the Harlem, New York, as early as Feb 1695, when Casparus appeared on the tax rolls there. He was then on the tax rolls continuously until Jul 1699. He was appointed a constable at Haarlem on 29 Sep 1696. He sold his Haarlem dwelling on 26 Mar 1700. and removed to New Rochelle, NY, a Huguenot town. Casparus may have returned to NY by 1705 as his son Abraham was christened there. By 1708, he was in Bergen County, New Jersey, residing at Closter(?) or New Bridge, near Hackensack where his son Johannes was Christened. Most sources say he and Eliz. are buried at the Tappan Reformed Church burial ground, Rockland Co. , NY. Barrie and Gloria Mabie state that he died at Closter, NJ. New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, Vol 52: p 251,252 Royal A. Mabee.2

(Witness) Reasoning1750 Conclusion reached by John MayBee - DNA and history evidence from Nathan Van Wyck shows that the probably grandparents of Jeremiah Mabie (MS#3744) is Jeremias Mabie (MS#403) and Helena Conklin (MS#3261). They had two sons, Jeremias Jr (MS#3941) and Deliverance Mabie (MS# 3942).
Jeremias Mabie Jr (MS#3941) married in 1748, but his oldest known child was born about seven years later, which leaves room for Jeremiah Mabie (MS#3744) to be an earlier son. Jeremias Mabie Jr. had familial connections to the Strangs (via his maternal aunt) and to Westchester County (via his parents and siblings), I think it's conceivable that his children might have married members of the Strang family of Yorktown
Deliverance Mabie (MS# 3942) had two children after his marriage to Catrina Clemens in 1748, a son John, in 1749, and a son Deliverance abt 1751; after that no more is head of his family. Catrina's father's will showed her to be a widow in 1780. also applies to Helena Magdalena Conklin, Jeremias Mabie, Deliverance Mabie, Mary Clemens, Catrina Clemens, Johannes Mabie and Jeremias Mabie.

Land*17 October 1771  On 17 October 1771 at Lake Mahopac, Putnam County, New York, Peter Mabie In a survey of lands of Lake Mahopac, made Oct 17,1771, Peter Mabie's house is mentioned. He owned a tract of 105 acres which began on the lake shore at a point nearly west from the Methodist Church, and ran east to the brook which is the outlet of the Mud Pond, then down the same from some distance, and then extended east to the original east line of Lot 5 of Philipse Patent, then south along this line six chains, and then westerly to the lake. It included nearly all the shore of the lake between the Methodist Church and a point a short distance south of the Carpenter House. He also owned Peter or Mabie Island situated in the lake consisting of 6 acres.4 
(Witness) Land10 April 1784  On 10 April 1784 at Fredrickborough Precinct, Dutchess County, New York, Abraham Mabie and Silvia Coquillet On 4/10/1784, Abraham Mabee and Phebee Mabee, his wife, of Fredrickborough Precinct Dutchess County, sold a tract of land containing 187 acres to John Mabee for 5 shillings. This tract was bounded on the North and East by the lands of Peter Mabee (Abraham's son). The price of 5 shillings is very low for this amount of acreage and clearly is in the form a bequeath.5 
Land*28 September 1786  On 28 September 1786 at Fredrickburg, Dutchess County, New York, Peter Mabie and Susanna Sunderland On 9/28/1786, Peter Mabee and his wife Susanna, of Fredricksburgh Dutchess County, sold two tracts of land to Benajah Beardsley for 500 Pounds. One tract of 68 acres was identified as "the farm on which Daniel Mabee now lives", referring to the son of Peter and Susanna. The second tract of 8 acres in part adjoined the farm of John Mabee (Peter's brother. This appears to be part of an exchange of land between Peter and Benajah. In two others deeds with the same date, Benajah Beardsley and his wife Rebecca sold two tracts of land containing some 115 acres to Peter Mabee for a total of 600 Pounds. One of these tracts was bounded in part by lands already owned by Peter, and the other was bounded in part by lands of Abraham Mabee.6

I devise that Susannah my daughter shall have decent support out of the profits of the farm so long as she continue single and should she marry, she is to receive 100 pounds. If Susannah shall become dissatisfied at home in living on with Levi or Sarah his wife, she may do what is necessary to move elsewhere and Levi is to go her surity paying her board. Should Levi refuse, then it is my wish that the Executors shall sell off cattle enough or land to discharge the debt. My son Elias is to receive 90 pounds. I give to my beloved wife Susannah all the household furniture, the use and profits of the farm as she shall require, if she become dissatisfied in living with my son Levi then she may change her residence with any of the other children and Levi shall be responsible for this debt. I give to my son Levi the balance of my real and personal estate. I constitute my son Jeremiah and my friend Benjamin Townsend Executors of my last will and testiment.8

Will of Peter Mabie, of Carmel, Putnam County (Dutchess when the will was written), dated 11/3/1808, proved 12/29/1817, mentions wife Susannah, sons Daniel, Jeremiah, Levi and Elias, daughters Tamer Wright and Susannah (unmarried). Also mentions, at fair length, grandson Lebbius Mabie (only grandchild mentioned). Steve Mabie writes, "My impression from reading this will is that Lebbius was an orphan. There is no mention of his parents, only a reference to "his uncle, Levi Mabie". Lebbius was definitely under 21 at the time this will was written. Note that in The History of Putnam County (Pelletreau), Lebeus is listed as a son of Peter. This is not correct, based on Peter's will."1111"

(Witness) Anecdote1715 The will of Sophia Romeyn, the sister of Christian, who was the wife of Frederick Schuurman (Lysbeth's parents), written in 1715, specifically mentions four daughters of Caspar Mebie and Lysbeth Schuerman: Christyntie, Affie, Sophia (Feytie) and Catharine. The baptisms for the latter 3 daughters have not survived. Since Affie married in 1717 and Sophia in 1719 and since Catharine appears to have had her first child in 1725, it is guessed that Affie was born in 1696 or 1697, Sophia in 1697 or 1698, and Catharine in 1703. In addition, Caspar apparently also had a son, Simon, born approximately in 1701 (baptism record did not survive). Therefore, these four children are: Affie (5-4), Sophia (5-5), Simon (5-7), and Catherine (5-8).
