(Witness) oObit | 13 February 1911 | Samuel Harrison Mabie was mentioned in the obituary of Martin Abraham Mabie on 13 February 1911 at Carmel, New York; The death of Martin A. Mabie, one of the oldest and beat known carpenters in Danbury, occurred at his home on Brookside avenue at eight o'clock, Saturday morning. Mr. Mabie was born in Patterson, N. Y., in 1835 and moved to Danbury when a young man and took a position with W. W. Sunderland and remained to his employ for over forty years. He worked at his trade until a comparatively short time before his death, when his failing health forced him to retire. He had been slowly and constantly failing for about four months and his death was due to a general breaking down after many years of steady labor. He is survived by his wife and two sons, George E. and Samuel D. Mabie, three grand-children and a great grand-daughter. The deceased was a member of the American Mechanics and Local 927, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners.—Danbury News.8 |

Grace Dell Wells was born Aug 4, 1887, in Van Buren County, Iowa, grew to womanhood and was married there Dec 30, 1906, to Frank Mabie. They came to Kansas in 1902, settling at Geneva where they lived until coming to Parsons in 1942. Mabie is employed at Oakwood Cemetery. She was a member of the Central Avenue Christian Church. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Mrs Beth Bell of Kansas City and Mrs Bessie Taylor of Parsons; one son Jesse Mabie of Parsons; three sisters, Mrs Joe Shelby and Mrs Pete Harris, both of Parsons, and Mrs Faye Murray, Springfield, Mo; four brothers, William Wells of Drumwright, Okla., Charles of Iola, Russell of Robstown, Tex., and Glen of Van Nuys, Calif., and five grandchildren.10 |

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery, Parsons. Mrs. Taylor died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Presbyterian Manor. She was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Anderson County, the daughter of Frank Clinton and Grace Della Wells Mabie. Mrs. Taylor worked at Hallmark for two years and was a cashier at the Kansas Union Bookstore for 17 years, retiring in 1978. She was a former president of the Christian Women's Fellowship Circle. She also was a former Sunday school teacher and chairwoman of the Sewing Room at the First Christian Church. She married Leonard Zack Taylor on Aug. 9, 1936, in Iola. He died earlier. Two daughters, Linda Taylor Miller and Barbara Taylor, also died earlier. Survivors include a sister, Beth Bell, Overland Park; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will meet them from 9:30 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday. The family suggests memorials to cancer or heart research at the University of Kansas Medical Center, the First Christian Church of Lawrence, Presbyterian Manor or a charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of the funeral home.6 |

(Witness) oObit | 26 September 2005 | Beth Lucille Mabie was mentioned in the obituary of Bessie Mae Mabie on 26 September 2005 at Lawrence, Kansas; A Celebration of Life Service for Bessie Mae Taylor, 88, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery, Parsons. Mrs. Taylor died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Presbyterian Manor. She was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Anderson County, the daughter of Frank Clinton and Grace Della Wells Mabie. Mrs. Taylor worked at Hallmark for two years and was a cashier at the Kansas Union Bookstore for 17 years, retiring in 1978. She was a former president of the Christian Women's Fellowship Circle. She also was a former Sunday school teacher and chairwoman of the Sewing Room at the First Christian Church. She married Leonard Zack Taylor on Aug. 9, 1936, in Iola. He died earlier. Two daughters, Linda Taylor Miller and Barbara Taylor, also died earlier. Survivors include a sister, Beth Bell, Overland Park; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will meet them from 9:30 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday. The family suggests memorials to cancer or heart research at the University of Kansas Medical Center, the First Christian Church of Lawrence, Presbyterian Manor or a charity of the donor's choice, sent in care of the funeral home.8 |
