oObit | 25 September 1933 | On 25 September 1933 at Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey, the obituary of George W. Mabee read: George Mabee died at his home on Van Dam avenue early Saturday morning of a paralytic stroke after being confined two days. He was seventy-nine. Born in West Milford, near Echo Lake, Mr Mabee moved here after the death of his wife, the former Candace Duree Mabee, nearly twenty-five years ago. He had lived in this vicinity all his life. Surviving are three brothers: Daniel of Paterson; Theodore of Wortendyke, and Benjamin of Warwick NY; one sister Mrs Chauncy Sandford of Butler, and three daughters, Mrs Clara Mabee of Butler; Mrs William White of Waterviliet, NY, and Mrs Emma Roy of Morristown. Funeral services will be held tomorrow from the Riverside funeral chapel. Burial will be at the West Milford cemetery. Mr Mabee followed his trade as a carpenter until about ten years ago, when he retired from active work.15 |

Conklin, and besides his wife is survived by the following children: Addie, wife of Charles Shelter of Port Jervis; Martin H. of Monroe; Nellie and Fred L., who lives at home; also two brothers, John of Wortendyke, NJ and William of Greenwood Lake. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at two o'clock at the Greenwood Lake Methodist Church, the Rev. Northrop officiating. Burial Greenwood Lake Cemetery.8,9 |

Mabey Sr. passed away at Lincoln Park Care Center on Friday, June 28, 2013. He was 89. Born in Towaco on February 11, 1924 to the late Milton Mabey and Christina (Osborne) Mabey, he was a longtime resident of Towaco. Mr. Mabey was a motor carrier inspector for the New Jersey Department of Transportation until retiring in 1979. He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1943 to 1945, and honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. He received the Distinguished Medal of Honor from the New Jersey Legislature in 2001. Mr. Mabey was a 60-year member of St. John's Masonic Lodge #1 in Mountain Lakes, and a Shriner. He was an exempt lifetime member of the Towaco Fire Department, and served as Fire Commissioner. Among his interests were hunting and fishing, and being an avid outdoorsman. He also enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan Tokarski in 2006 and his son-in-law George Tokarski in January. Survivors include his wife of 70 years Ruth J. (Rastall); two sons, Howard Jr. and his wife Marlene of Blairstown, and William and his wife Jackie of South Plainfield; two daughters, Nancy of Toms River, and Barbara Vreeland and her husband John of New York State; his brother Fred of New York State; 11 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by the Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main Street, Lincoln Park, NJ 07035 (973) 694-1582. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 4-8 PM. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 PM during the visitation. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:30 AM.
