Mr Mabee was around the house up to the time he was stricken. He was 87 years of age, having been born March 3, 1844 at West Perth, a son of James and Chloe Knickerbocker Mabee. Mr Mabee was a descendent of two pioneer families of the territory east of Johnstown, that figured in the early history of the country.. He resided for many years at Hale Mills, where he was engaged in milling and was one of the few remaining older residents of that hamlet. He had spent some of his later years in Johnstown, where he was well known. Mr Mabee was one of the seven Johnstown survivors of the Civil war. He enlisted in Company C, 142nd regiment in July 1862, and served with his company through the engagement, being honorably discharged in August 1865. The only surviving relatives are two nephews, Thomas Mabee of Albany; William Mabee of Amsterdam; two nieces, Miss Chloe Mabee and Miss Rita Mabee of Amsterdam. The body was removed to the home of Mrs Fred J. Dupree, 139 East State Street, Johnstown, where the funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30, (D. S. T.)
