He is survived by his mother, Mrs C B Mabee, a brother and a sister. His father, who has been dead for several years, was a prominent citizen of Monteagle before his death.3
Burial* He was buried at Monteagle Cemetery, Monteagle, Marion County, Tennessee.4
Anecdote* It appears that someone assumed his identity after he was dead, because five years after his burial in the family plot at Monteagle Cemetery, there is this record: "William Alfred Mabee, 29, a Single Butcher of Santa Barbara, born in Tennessee to Charles Mabee and Martha Collins; married Lottie D Borgo, 19, a Single Housekeeper of Santa Barbara, born in California to William Borgo and Isabel Romero; on 17 February 1909 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Santa Barbara" This William had been a neighbor of William Alfred 's brother, James Aaron in Los Angeles and may have gotten the name and parents from him.5,3
