He was born Sept 27, 1913 at Marion, in his grandparents' home, the son of Judson Adonirum and Ruby Pearl Pickett Mabey.
He was raised on the ranch east of Bancroft. Due to the location of the ranch being a distance from the school, he received his education in Bountiful, Utah where the family maintained a second home. He graduated with the last class from LDS High School in Salt City and then attended Utah State University.
He married Ada Marie Williams, May 17, 1940 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Emerson spent his life on the Lazy K Ranch and loved it. He found joy in working the soil and working with sheep and cattle. He enjoyed riding the range with his dogs following him.
He was active in civic and government affairs, having served on numerous committees ans as Caribou County commissioner.
He gave much service to his fellow man and church. He was a capable public speaker having delivered over 200 funeral tributes to friends and loved ones. He was a High Priest in the Bancroft LDS First Ward. He served in the bishopric, twice on High Council, Stake YMM president, Stake Sunday School board, and Stake patriarch.
He served three missions for the LDS Church to Australia, Idaho Stake Mission and with his companion, Ada Marie to Texas, Houston Mission. They also served as Officiators to the Logan LDS Temple.
He is survived by his wife of Bancroft; four sons and two daughters and their spouses, J. Adam and Candice Mabey of Lewiston, Clint Emerson and Laura Mabey, Daingerfield, Texas, David Arnold and Diana Mabey, Yorktown Hts, New York, Peter Judson and Mary Ann Mabey, Kelso, Washington, Polly Jean and Max McCammon, Afton, Wyoming and Rebeca Marie and Larry King, Bountiful, Utah; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother and one sister, Don Russell Mabey, Park City, Utah and Cora Bumett of Bountiful.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruby Pearl Smedley and Lois Amelia Ellis, a grandson Brady McCammon, and a great-grandson, Colby Sutherland,
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 6, at 1 PM at the Bancroft LDS Chapel. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery.⁸

On 11 October 2015 at Salt Lake City, Utah, the obituary of Don Russell Mabey read: Don R. Mabey, beloved and respected scientist, father, grandfather, spouse and friend died at home, Saturday October 10, 2015 from the effects of prostate cancer.
Born March 29, 1927 in Bountiful, Utah. Son of Judson A. and Ruby Pickett Mabey. Raised near Bancroft, Idaho on the family's sheep ranch. Graduate of Davis High School and the University of Utah (Physics). Served as an Electronic Technician, US Navy, WWII. Married Janice Wynn, 1954, divorced. Married Wendy Romney Hassibe, 1980, divorced. Survived by his three children: Deanna (Chris) Jeffrey, Danette (Art) Hantla, and Matthew (Kaylyn) Mabey; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and beloved spouse and colleague, Genevieve Atwood.
Don contributed to the understanding of Earth's structure while working as a geophysicist for the United States Geological Survey (1951-1980) and the Utah Geological Survey (1982-1986). He received the U.S. Department of the Interior's Superior Performance Award in 1958 and 1961, Meritorious Service Award in 1970, and the Department's highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award in 1979 "in recognition of his outstanding contributions to solid-Earth geophysics and the exceptional leadership he provided scientific research programs." At the Utah Geological Survey he led the Applied Geology Program, making the state safer from flooding, landslides, and earthquake hazards. In retirement he provided technical expertise and inspiration to Earth Science Education, a small not-for-profit that teaches Utah teachers about local Earth science.
In addition to many technical and professional papers relating to geophysics, Don authored two books: The Bend of Bear River (a study of the geology and history of southeastern Idaho before 1860) and The Canyon (a cherished tribute to his father, his family and Monroe Canyon in Caribou County, Idaho and how place ultimately shaped their lives and his life). He beautifully and skillfully intertwined geology, history and a sense of place in diverse writings, including family histories and articles published in The Journal of Mormon History and The Caribou County Sun.
Reception: Friday, October 16, 5:30-7 p.m. followed at 7 p.m. by a non-technical explanation of what geophysicists study. On 20 April 2008 the obituary of Glen Lee Mabey read: Glen Lee Mabey passed away at the age of 66 on March l5, 2008. He was born on January 10, 1942 in Monterey Park and grew up in Montebello . He lived in California his entire life. He married Shirley Sabol in 1964, bought a house in Valinda had two children named Jim and Jenny. He moved his family to Claremont in 1977.
Glen was a precision metal worker, toolmaker and plastic injection mold maker. He won first place for the State of California (State Champion) as well as for Los Angeles (Local Champion) in a competition by the State of California Tool and Die Association in 1967. Glen continued to work as a precision metal worker and to raise his two children until he was disabled by a severe head injury as a result of a head-on collision in 1983 caused by two college students who were Driving under the influence of alcohol.
Glen loved boating, camping, water skiing, fishing, snow skiing, hiking and just being out doors in nature. He loved to go to "The River" Lake Mohave , Laughlin, Lake Havasu , Lake McClure , Lake Silverwood , Newport Beach/Balboa and Disneyland . He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping people. Glen had a great sense of humor.
Glen's early demise was caused by a series of unfortunate events starting with Pneumonia that was incorrectly diagnosed as Bronchitis.
He leaves his wife, Shirley Mabey after being married for 43 years, who plans to remain in their family home in Claremont, his son Jim Mabey and wife Maria with two grand daughters Janelle and Jessica in Corona, and his daughter Jennifer and husband Spencer Owens with two grandsons Spencer and Connor in Fontana,
His wish was to be cremated and to have a burial at sea. We will honor his wish by taking one last boat ride with Glen aboard the Nautilus at Newport Landing, Newport Beach , 10:30am on Sunday, April 27, 2008.⁷

On 9 March 2004 at Los Angeles, California, the obituary of Cheryl Lynn Mabey read: Peacefully passed away surrounded by family in Los Angeles, on March 5, 2004. Cheryl was born in Los Angeles, California to her parents, Judson Tyler Mabey and Thelma Lee Mabey on June 8, 1947. She grew up in La Habra, California. Cheryl's life was dedicated to the service of others. After graduating from Mount St. Mary's College, she pursued a Master's of Arts degree in Political Science from Purdue University and later received her law degree from Loyola Law School. For over 20 years Cheryl shaped the lives of young women at Mount St. Mary's College, where at the age of 26, she became the youngest dean in the College's history. As Dean of Students and Executive Director of the Women's Leadership Program she developed a model women's leadership program and was chosen as a Kellogg National Leadership Fellow. She also served as a consultant to universities, governmental agencies, community groups and professional organizations. While married to her husband, Jack Ruebensaal, and raising her son Tyler, Cheryl also became the Director of LA PASS, a project funded by the Ford Foundation to advocate for student success. Cheryl later went on to be the founder and Executive Director of Project GRAD Los Angeles, an educational non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of urban youth entering and succeeding in college. More than anything, Cheryl was dedicated to her family. She is survived by her husband Jack, son Tyler, sister Carla Bouchard, and nephews Ryland and Judson Bouchard. A vigil will be held Wednesday, March 10 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary located at 11160 Stranwood Avenue, Mission Hills, (818) 361-7387. The Funeral Mass and burial will be held on Thursday, March 11 at 10:30 a.m at the San Fernando Mission Rey and Cemetery at 15151 San Fernando Mission Boulevard, Mission Hills, CA.
