He organized and was a charter member of several groups in the early movement to aid the mentally retarded, and was always involved in community and civic affairs. Anderson, who preceded her in death. Later, she married George Zust. She was a confirmed Episcopalian and a lifetime seeker of Catholic and spiritual truths. Mariah is survived and beloved by George Zust; her children, Elizabeth Haithe Anderson, Mimms J. Mabee, John W. Anderson and his wife, Kathy, and Kate Anderson; seven grandchildren, Zoe Anderson, Ty Anderson, Winifred (Winnie) Mabee, Sigourney Christine Anderson, Katie Anderson, Sean Anderson and Daniel Anderson, as well as her brother, Charles Ray Mabee II, and his wife, Barbara. Mariah was a spiritual inspiration to many, intolerant of the intolerant and sorely missed by those who loved her. Memorials can be made to either the Putnam County Courthouse Clock Restoration Fund or the Seymour, Iowa Cemetery, her final resting spot. She was predeceased by a son, Stanley W. Mabee in 1997; and a brother, Stanley Seeley. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, November 18 from 2 to 4 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. Myers, Fla., Brad Rassi of Albany, Ore. and Eric Alan of Peoria Heights; eight grandchildren, Shane, Ryan, Christopher, Alyssa, Andrea, Steven, Grant and Lexi; four great grandchildren, Ivyn, Ian, Savannah and Bryson; one brother, Solomon Rassi; one sister, Leah Warren; and many nieces and nephews. He attended grade school at Prairie Creek in rural Morton and graduated from Morton High School in 1949. Out of high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served overseas during the Korean War in the Philippines. He worked for Keystone Steel and Wire before joining Roecker Brother Construction. Robert later worked for Otto Baum Company in Morton. He enjoyed golfing, collecting coins, taking cruises and dancing with Janet. Robert was blessed with a very large and loving family whom he loved dearly. He was a member of Morton VFW Post 5921. He attended Apostolic Christian Church in Morton. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Morton Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 22, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be held Saturday, February 23, from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Morton, where military rites will be conducted.2 | |

Scott Jr., 85, of Warwick, passed away on January 10, 2005 at Arden Hill Hospital, Goshen. Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on February 16, 1919, he was the son of Robert B. and Bertha Decker Scott Sr. He was the widower of Elsie Mabee Scott. Mr. Scott was the retired postmaster in Warwick. He was a member of the Warwick United Methodist Church and Warwick VFW Post 4662. A Veteran of the US Army, he served during WW II with the 2nd Armored Division. He is survived by his son, Robert B. Scott III of Florida, N.Y. and his wife Nancy; and his grandson, Matthew Scott. He was predeceased by a sister, Dora Ayers Jeffries. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, January 11 at the Lazear-Smith and Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the family plot in Warwick Cemetery.2 |
