Wesson Mauk died at his home in Penfield Oct. 10, 1903. Aged 30 years 5 months and 9 days. He leaves a wife, a mother, one brother and several sisters to mourn his demise. Mr. Mauk came here a short time ago to work in the mines. His honest, pleasing disposition soon won him many friends and on July 4th he was married to Miss Ella Hollinshead of this place.
The young couple just nicely started housekeeping when he was stricken with typhoid fever which caused his death. His wife also has the fever and is still quite sick.
The funeral was held on Sunday in the M.E. church and was largely attended. The U.M.W. of A. were present in a body. Rev. J.R. Ebner and Director Joyce were in charge.4

She was born on April 17, 1933, to Alexander and Elizabeth MacKerell of Merchantville, N.J. Mrs. Grant was proud that she graduated from Dickinson College with a B.S. degree. She loved the ocean and was a world traveler, teacher, mother and actress who spent the first four years of her marriage residing in Edinburgh, Scotland, as her husband pursued his Ph.D.
During her marriage to Dr. Grant, she resided in Wenonah, N.J., Indianapolis, Ind., Elmira, N.Y., and Basking Ridge, N.J., as her husband pursued various ministerial and academic positions, including 11 years as president of Elmira College.
Throughout her life, Nancy had strong ties to the beach community of Stone Harbor, N.J., where the couple still maintain a summer residence, not far from the home she enjoyed as a child. For the past two years, she has resided with her husband at the Glenmoor Retirement Community, located in World Golf Village at St. Augustine.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Leonard T. Grant; her son, Scott; daughters, Elisabeth and Constance; daughter-in-law, Sharon; son-in-law, Dave; grandchildren, Austin, Amanda and Alexander. She is also survived by a brother, Donald, and a sister, Sandra.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Ponte Vedra Valley, 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 10, 2011, at the Glenmoor Clubhouse Chapel at Glenmoor, 235 Towerview Drive, St. Augustine, FL 32092.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Dickinson College or Elmira College Leonard T. Grant Professorship Fund and Nancy MacKerell Scholarship Fund. Please sign the online guestbook at www.pontevedravalley.com.
