oObit* | 31 October 1958 | On 31 October 1958 at Orlando, Florida, the obituary of Amelia Mildred Hoeppner read: Mrs Oscar Pellum Mabee, 97, died Thursday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs Coite W Hill, 1115 Bellair Cir, following an illness of several months. The former Amelia Hepner Mabee, daughter of the late Anna Marie Hancock and Lee F Hepner, was born Sept 12, 1861, in Galena, Ill. Following her marriage to the late Dr O P Mabee, they moved to Galesburg Ill. Except for a brief residences in Iowa and Canada, Dr and Mrs Mabee made there home in Galesburg until his death in 1932. They were regular winter visitors in Orlando. Mrs Mabee has made her home with her daughter in Orlando since 1936. Of four children, the surviving members of the family are Helen [Mrs Wilmon] Newell, Gainesville, and Mildred [Mrs Coite W] Hill, Orlando. Mrs Mabee was a member of the Episcopal Church and Rosalind Club. Private funeral services will be held at Fairchild Funeral Home, Orlando, and burial will be in a mausoleum in Hope Abbey, Hope Cemetery, Galesburg, Ill. The family requests no flowers.4 |

Death* | 1 October 1918 | John Alden McIntyre died on 1 October 1918 at Tilloy-lès-Mofflaine, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, at age 31; He was one of a party engaged in carrying ammunition on the morning of October 1st, 1918, during an advance North East of Tilloy. The party was proceeding under a heavy barrage, and Private McIntyre was following, some little distance behind his comrades. When the party was checked up it was found that he was missing. His body was found the following morning completely hidden in a bed of thistles, he having been hit in the left breast and shoulder by fragments of a shell.5 |

(Mentioned) oObit | He was mentioned in the obituary of of John Finlay McIntyre ; John Finlay McIntyre (1852-1936), Printer and publisher was born at Balderson, Ontario on 1 January 1852, he apprenticed as a printer in the office of the Perth Courier and the Arnprior Chronicle. In 1877 he came to Winnipeg with his brother, P. C. McIntyre, and opened the first job-printing office in the city, located on McDermot Avenue. About 20 years later, the business was sold and McIntyre joined the Douglass-McIntyre Printing Company on Princess Street, retiring from it around 1930. In 1886 he married Minnie Ann Mabee (1863-1935). They had four sons: John Alden McIntyre (1887-1918), Campbell Mabee McIntyre (1883-1956), Lorne A. McIntyre, and Duncan Archibald "Archie" McIntyre (1897-1906). He was treasurer of the Manitoba branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society for 24 years, first treasurer of the YMCA and serving a year as its President, Deacon of First Baptist Church for 56 years, a President of the Baptist Convention of Manitoba, and general secretary of the Baptist Union of Western Canada. He was a member of the Apollo Club and other musical organizations. He died at Winnipeg on 31 October 1936 and was buried in St. John's Cemetery.7 |
