He attended Trinity College School at Port Hope and was employed at the Standard Bank in Colborne, Ontario in 1877. He was appointed cashier of the Credit Valley Railway Company in 1880, and was bookkeeper for the Dominion Telegraph Company in 1881. From 1881 to 1923 he held various positions with the Great North Western Telegraph Company. He was appointed General Manager in 1911 and Vice-President in 1921. The company was later known as Canadian National Telegraph Company. George Perry died at Toronto on January 2, 1948, at the age of 89. George Perry is buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.10 |

The funeral of the late Levi Mabee, one of Winnipeg's old timers, took place Monday afternoon to St. John's cemetery. Mr. Mabee was the eldest son of W. B. Mabee, of West Oxford, Ont. He was associated with his father for many years in agricultural, lumbering and milling industries. Later he moved to Seaforth, county of Huron, where he carried on a similar line of business, coming to Winnipeg in the early eighties, where he spent the remaining years of his life, with the exception of four or five years in British Columbia. In the early days Mr. Mabee carried on a wood and coal business in the city representing the one time the Pioneer Fuel Company of the south. He was a charter member of the First A. O. U. W. lodge instituted in the city, he was a Baptist, being connected with the Logan Avenue Baptist church during all the years of Its existence. He leaves to survive him a wife and four daughters, Miss Mabee and Mrs. J. F. McIntyre of Wlnnlpeg; Mrs. B. F. Hills of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. W. D. Scott, of Neepawa, Manitoba.11 |

In 1886 he married Minnie Ann Mabee (1863-1935). They had four sons: John Alden McIntyre (1887-1918), Campbell Mabee McIntyre (1883-1956), Lorne A. McIntyre, and Duncan Archibald "Archie" McIntyre (1897-1906). He was treasurer of the Manitoba branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society for 24 years, first treasurer of the YMCA and serving a year as its President, Deacon of First Baptist Church for 56 years, a President of the Baptist Convention of Manitoba, and general secretary of the Baptist Union of Western Canada. He was a member of the Apollo Club and other musical organizations. He died at Winnipeg on 31 October 1936 and was buried in St. John's Cemetery.18 | |

The funeral of the late Levi Mabee, one of Winnipeg's old timers, took place Monday afternoon to St. John's cemetery. Mr. Mabee was the eldest son of W. B. Mabee, of West Oxford, Ont. He was associated with his father for many years in agricultural, lumbering and milling industries. Later he moved to Seaforth, county of Huron, where he carried on a similar line of business, coming to Winnipeg in the early eighties, where he spent the remaining years of his life, with the exception of four or five years in British Columbia. In the early days Mr. Mabee carried on a wood and coal business in the city representing the one time the Pioneer Fuel Company of the south. He was a charter member of the First A. O. U. W. lodge instituted in the city, he was a Baptist, being connected with the Logan Avenue Baptist church during all the years of Its existence. He leaves to survive him a wife and four daughters, Miss Mabee and Mrs. J. F. McIntyre of Wlnnlpeg; Mrs. B. F. Hills of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. W. D. Scott, of Neepawa, Manitoba.6 |

Hillis, aged about. 70 years, died Thursday evening at Cleveland, Ohio, after an illness of four days. Born at Dresden; Ont., Mr. Hlllis was educated at Chatham. Entering the printing trade In his youth he was employed with the Cleveland Leader for some time. In the early 80 s he moved to Winnipeg where he became composing room foreman for the old Telegram, a position which he later held with The Tribune. Some 30 years ago he returned to Cleveland, where he again was employed by the Leader. While in Winnipeg he married Lovina Mabee. If he had lived, the couple would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in April. Besides his widow he is survived by a daughter, Hazel, a registered nurse in Cleveland, and a son, Milton, a printer in Philadelphia. Mrs. J. F. McIntyre, of Winnipeg, is a sister of Mrs. Hillis.7,8 |
