Her first joy was her family. She had a life-long love of music and was a people person. She enjoyed serving her friends and neighbors, being by the ocean, and always wanted to ride the canyons. Survived by husband, Walt; children: Susan (Phillip) Cook, Dan (Marge) Mabey and Scott (Laura) Mabey; stepchildren: Janet Scott, Marsha Rush, Sandra West, Bruce (Rut) Matern, Joann (Matt) Mace and Helen Jelitto; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brother, Jay (Darlene) Sorenson. Also preceded in death by parents; sister, Jeanne Churich; stepson, Paul Matern; step great-grandson, Shaine Burton. A special thanks to Janet and Walt for Moms loving care through her physical trials, and to the staff of Life Care Home Health and Highland Care Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Ward, 41 West 6280 South where a viewing will be held, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.2 |

Mabie read: John Mabie, of Kearney, Neb., a former resident of this city, ended his life last Saturday morning by shooting himself in the head. He was despondent, out of work, and had no money. The remains were brought to Lexington Monday afternoon and interred in the Evergreen cemetery. He is survived by a son and two daughters. Jack Mabie as he was known to the most of his friends, was in charge of the Union Pacific coal shutes in this city for many years and had a host of friends who will remember him as a generous hearted man. He left here about twenty years ago and located in Kearney where he has since resided, most of the time working in the U. P. Coal shutes in that city. He was 67 years of age.2 |

Mabey, a crippled veteran of the Civil War and United States pensioner, died at his home, No. 46 Saratoga avenue at 7.30 o'clock last evening, aged 63 years. He served in the Third New Jersey Infantry regiment and after the war came to Rock City Falls to work for the late Chaucey Kilmer and soon after become paralyzed in his lower limbs and an almost helpless invalid. For over thirty years he sat in an invalid's chair unable to walk a single step, yet retained a serene and uncomplaining temperament that endeared him to a large number of friends. He removed to Ballston Spa about twenty years ago. He sustained a stroke of apoplexy about two weeks since. Mr. Mabey is survived by his widow, who has been his faithful helpmate in his long years of adversity, one son, James L. Mabey, and one daughter, Mrs. Charles Van Buren, both of Ballston Spa. The funeral of Benjamin R. Mabey will be held at the residence of his family on Saratoga avenue at 3 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, the Rev. A.C. Baldwin will officiate, a delegation of Civil War veterans will serve as bearers and he will be buried in the Village cemetery.11 |

Second - I give devise and bequeath to my son Wilbert Stanley Maybee all of my Real estate in lot number sixty in the second Concession of the aforesaid Township of Ameliasburgh subject however to any and all charges and legacies hereinafter mentioned. Third - I give and bequeath to my said wife Hannah Mariah Maybee, Wilbert Stanley Maybee and William Henry Maybee my two sons the whole of my personal estate of whatsoever character or description it may be - to be equally divided between them share and share alike, but my said wife shall have the full control of the said personal estate and the management of the same for the support and education of my children and her own support till my said son Wilbert Stanley Maybe shall attain to the age of twenty four years at which time the said property that is the personal estate shall be divided as aforesaid. Fourth - I give to my said wife the full control of my real estate aforesaid for her own support and the support of my said sons while she shall remain unmarried and my widow. Fifth - I give and bequeath to my son William Henry Maybee one hundred dollars a year during his natural life and I make the same a charge on the lands and tenements hereinbefore willed to my son Wilbert Stanley Maybee and I hereby authorize my Executrix and Executors if necessary to secure the payment of the said legacy to sell and convey to a purchaser or purchasers so much of the said Real estate as will secure such yearly payments to him but I make this special provision that while my said wife and my son Wilbert Stanley Maybee or either of them shall afford and provide my said son William Henry Maybee a comfortable home and a comfortable living on the said Real estate or homestead farm the said legacy of a hundred dollars a year shall not run against the said Real estate or be payable to him but the said comfortable home and living shall be in lieu of the said legacy. My Estate Real and personal shall be liable for my debts funeral expenses and cost of monument. My real estate is willed to my son Wilbert Stanley his heirs and assigns forever - but in all Cases subject to all the aforesaid provisions. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight.
