Graveside services for Velma D. Moorehead-Maybee, 95, of Modesto, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Turlock Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held at noon Monday at Neighborhood Church in Modesto.
Mrs. Moorehead-Maybee was born in Lapwai, Id. and died Monday at her residence in Modesto.
She came to Hughson in 1919 from Idaho. She lived in Hughson and Turlock and attended schools in those communities. In 1932, she married John Moorehead. They lived in Modesto until John's passing in 1959. In 1964, she became the Dean of Girls at Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville. She married in 1969 to Don Maybee, who was the Dean of Students until his passing in 1998. She returned to Turlock in 1974 and worked with Monte Vista Christian Center's Center. She retired in 1978. In 1998, she returned to Modesto in retirement in 1998.
She is survived by foster daughter Thelma Scoville of Vancouver, Wash; step-daughters Carol and Donna Knapp, both of Turlock; caregiver Rosie Hernandez; sister Virginia Rehder of Modesto; three grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Community Hospice of Modesto, 601 McHenry Ave. Modesto, CA 95350 or Neighborhood Church Building Fund, 3200 Tully Rd. Modesto, CA 95350.
Allen Mortuary is handling the arrangements.11
