oObit*6 August 2021  On 6 August 2021 at Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas, the obituary of Patricia Maureen Boner read: Patricia Mabie, 70, Loving mother, wife, sister and friend died 8-3-2021.
Public viewing will be from 4pm to 8pm Monday August 9, 2021, at Downing Lahey Mortuary, 6555 E. Central, Wichita, KS. Family will not be present because of Covid - but they wanted to ensure Pat's friends and extended family could pay their respects.
Pat was very funny and an inspiration to all. She filled a room with her presence. Pat had a great personality. With her quick wit and amazing sense of humor, she always had a way to brighten up your day and had a special knack at making everything seem okay. "Hey kid…" she would say. She was a caring nurse for 40 years, always making her patients feel safe and comfortable. Her greatest love was her little family of 3. She met her husband, Sid in her hometown of Parsons, KS. It seemed the two were destined to be together. They were born just 5 days apart and were in the same nursery together in Parsons, KS. But it wouldn't be until they were 15 years old that they would meet again, this time not wearing diapers and looking at a mobile over their bassinet, but instead wearing boat hats making momma and papa burgers at the A&W restaurant in town. Pat was with her best friend for 55 years and married to him just 11 days shy of 50 years. They were inseparable. Pat moved to Wichita with Sid in '73 where she worked as an RN at Via Christi for 38 years and raised her only daughter, Molly. She always wanted to be a mother. She was so excited when she found out she was pregnant that she sent a singing telegram to Sid to announce the news to him and everyone at his work. She was such a loving mother, always putting Molly's needs over her own. Molly was born with a disability and Pat was her biggest cheerleader, never discouraging her from trying anything, despite being a bit nervous about some of the activities Molly chose to do…skiing was one. She saw Molly through every medical challenge and "bump in the road" as she would put it…and there were some pretty big bumps. Molly was her proudest accomplishment. Pat was always looking at the bright side of things, never dwelling on the bad, and making us laugh through it all. She was so selfless and would do anything for anyone. She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. We've lost a lovely lady that was very compassionate, friendly and a great friend to everyone. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.
Preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Catherine Boner; brothers, Robert Boner, Michael Boner. Survived by her husband, Sidney Mabie of Park City, KS; daughter, Molly Mabie of Durango, CO; sisters, Maryann Whitlock of Gilbert, AZ, Susan (Tom) Pavey of Minneapolis, MN; 10 nieces and nephews and 7 grand nieces and nephews. A memorial has been established with the Adaptive Golf Program, 696 Goldeneye Dr, Durango, CO 81303.4
